Iqhawe

Is your dad your hero?

'Iqhawe' literally translates as 'hero' in Zulu.

Conceptualised by South Africa illustrator and graphic designer Tebogo Lethuba, this piece was inspired by Lethuba's own hero South African singer Sjava, whose music has healed and liberated many across the country.

This piece is very much influenced by Afrofuturism which explores the intersection between traditional African aesthetics and the technology and culture of the 21st century.

The Afronaut

One of the three pieces in Ogunlende's series 'The Sky is Always Blue' (2020), this piece reminds us of hope and all that is good in this life, reflected in the choice of colours and compositions. Despite the facts that clouds will always appear, they soon clear and behind them the sky is always blue.
