April Bey: 'I Believe in Why I'm Here.'
Tomorrow, 1 October 2022, marks the final day to experience American artist April Bey's exhibition: 'I Believe in Why I'm Here' at Simon Lee in Mayfair. For her first solo European exhibition, Bey introduces us to the world of Atlantica; a world she created over thirty years, where love is the only currency and where prejudice has no place. Meet some of Atlanitca's inhabitants captured in large-scale portraits, based on individuals chosen by Bey herself because of her admiration for their disregard for boundaries and challenge of social norms.

1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair
1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair returns for the tenth time to London's Somerset House from 13-16 October 2022. Hosting 50 international exhibitors across 21 countries, 17 of the exhibiting galleries are from the African continent. New and returning exhibitors will present work by more than 130 artists practicing a variety of artistic mediums including paintings, sculptures, mixed media and installation. Works by more established artists Zanele Muholi, Ibrahim El-Salahi and Hassan Hajjaj will also be on view.

Hew Locke: The Procession
British Sculptor and contemporary visual artist Hew Locke has created a new and exciting large-scale installation at London’s Tate Modern entitled, The Procession. The Tate collective was founded and named after art enthusiast and sugar-refining magnate Henry Tate; Locke acknowledges that link in his installation through his exploration of the history effects of the sugar business on society. The Procession is a unique take on the traditional carnival which is usually considered to be a joyous affair, instead Locke invites his viewers to reflect on our collective history, the transfer of culture and power, and to reimagine the collective future.

Pontone Gallery presents American mixed media artist Fahamu Pecou's first exhibition in the UK, on now until 23 October 2022. Pecou's work explores contemporary ideas around representation of black male bodies and identities through painting, photography, mixed media, video and performance.
